Features
PractiPrint PS bridges macOS system printing with your remembered Bluetooth thermal printers.
Print from apps that support the standard macOS print dialog instead of a dedicated web interface.
Separate local IPP endpoints and remembered physical printers for each paper width.
Works with supported BLE printers and paired Bluetooth Classic devices using RFCOMM/SPP.
Auto tries remembered printers in priority order. It switches only before the first byte is sent.
Multipage input is converted into a continuous ESC/POS print stream for thermal paper.
The IPP service listens on your Mac; no Wi-Fi is needed for the physical Bluetooth link.
Getting started
No Terminal commands for the usual setup. macOS may request administrator approval when adding system printers.
Open the DMG and drag PractiPrint PS to the Applications folder.
Scan for BLE printers in the app; for Classic, pair the printer in macOS first and refresh the list.
Remember a printer for 58 or 80 mm, then select “Add 58 mm” or “Add 80 mm”.
Use ⌘ + P, select PractiPrint PS (58 mm) or (80 mm), and print.
Under the hood
No hidden app-level backlog: if IPP is running but no physical printer is available, the job fails. Once printing has begun, it is not automatically sent again to another printer.
Reliability
PractiPrint PS prioritizes predictable behavior when a Bluetooth connection drops or a physical printer is unavailable.
Not every Bluetooth printer is compatible. The device needs a suitable Bluetooth interface and support for the print commands used.
Frequently asked questions
No. Bluetooth support alone is not enough: the printer must support the relevant BLE or Classic connection and compatible ESC/POS printing.
Yes. In this version, the IPP service operates while PractiPrint PS is running; it does not install a separate always-on background helper.
If the IPP service is running but no saved physical printer is reachable, the job fails. PractiPrint PS does not accumulate jobs to print later.
The app does not switch to another physical printer after attempting the first byte. This reduces the risk of duplicate output after a partial transmission.
No, not for the Mac-to-printer connection. The IPP endpoint is local, and the physical printing connection uses Bluetooth.
Use “Add 58 mm” or “Add 80 mm” in the app. macOS may ask for administrator authorization.
